Shock for campers: It's now getting expensive on this highway in Poland!

A new section of freeway 1 between Gdansk and Toruń has been subject to tolls for all vehicles under and over 3.5 tons since the beginning of the year. The Polish government has also increased the toll rates for all heavy vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons or more on public freeways.

The freeway section between Gdansk and Toruń on the A1 has been subject to tolls again for vehicles up to 3.5 tons gross vehicle weight since the beginning of this year. The A1 highway is a public-private partnership, but there has now been a change on the section between Gdansk and Toruń.

In Poland, the toll obligation differs according to the total weight of the vehicle: on publicly financed freeways, vehicles up to 3.5 tons are toll-free, while vehicles and combinations over 3.5 tons are subject to tolls, as are expressways and federal highways. On privately financed highways, all vehicles pay tolls.

In addition, the toll rates for vehicles and combinations weighing more than 3.5 tons in the e-TOLL system, i.e. on publicly financed freeways, were increased by a good 3 percent in the new year. Two different toll rates apply for vehicles over 3.5 tons and vehicles with a gross weight of more than 12 tons.
